Directions

Directions from St Margaret’s Hope :-

  • Follow the road from the ferry to the T junction at the top of the hill
  • Turn left at the junction - signposted A961 Kirkwall
  • Continue on the A961 all the way to Kirkwall (13 miles)
  • Keep on this road down the hill into Kirkwall, going right at the first roundabout, until you reach a mini roundabout
  • At this roundabout take the first left - signposted Finstown, Stromness A965
  • At the next roundabout turn first left - signposted Stromness A965
  • Continue along the A965 through Finstown
  • Approx 1 mile out of Finstown turn right - signposted Harray, Dounby, Birsay A986
  • Continue along this road for approx 2.5 miles.
  • When you enter the 40mph limit you will see 200 yards on your left Fursbreck Pottery (painted red teapot on side of building).
  • Hammersmith is the two storey building on the opposite side of the road. Green sign on side of house.There is a parking area at the rear of the house

Directions from Stromness

  • From the ferry turn right and take the A965 to Kirkwall
  • After approx 5 miles turn left, signposted Harray, Dounby, Birsay A986
  • Continue along this road for approx 2.5 miles.
  • When you enter the 40mph limit you will see 200 yards on your left Fursbreck Pottery (painted red teapot on side of building).
  • Hammersmith is the two storey building on the opposite side of the road. Green sign on side of house.There is a parking area at the rear of the house.

From Kirkwall Ferry Terminal (Hatston) :-

  • Turn right and proceed towards Stromness on the A965
  • Continue along the A965 through Finstown
  • Approx 1 mile out of Finstown turn right - signposted Harray, Dounby, Birsay A986
  • Continue along this road for approx 2.5 miles.

  • Proceed to Kirkwall, then follow the signs for Stromness on the A965
